This painting was inspired by an Spanish artist Marc Figueras and shows people arriving at an antique auto show and farmers' market in the community of Fredonia, NY. I was encouraged by a fellow artist and friend, to look at contemporary American artist Philip Pearlstein's paintings and come up with my own interpretation, accordingly. Mr. Pearlstein does realistic nude paintings generally in various untraditonal poses. His images are bold and uncensored. Mr. Pearlstein has done other paintings of everyday average looking people, also, which is the route I decided to take. This painting is titled, 'Cousins' and notice the background, to the left is a "Pearlstein' self portrait. Everything was drawn free-hand here, as opposed to using a grid. The painting is on gesso board, is 18" x 24" and yes, that is of myself, left, and my beloved cousin, Chet! NFS
